THE Curlewis Golf Club is the inaugural winner of the Golf Digest Club Achievement award.
The club was presented with the award at a gala event, which co-incided with the 2016 Australian Open at Royal Sydney.
Curlewis was recognised for its progressive and forward-thinking approach to improving participation, awareness and enjoyment of golf along with unparalleled membership growth. The award comes on the back of being officially recognised as the fastest growing golf club in Australia, with more than 200 members signing up in the last 16 months.
Curlewis Golf Club owners David and Lyndsay Sharp, who bought the club in July 2015 when it was on the brink of closure, were both humbled and honoured to be the first recipient of this award from Australia’s top-selling golf magazine.
“Our promise to the members and the people of Geelong and the Bellarine was to make Curlewis one of the most enjoyable courses to play in Australia,” David said.
“This award is a huge honour and a gratifying indication that we are heading in the right direction in our commitment to Curlewis Golf Club and the community as a whole,” he said.
