Gallant Hawks fall short against Grubs

DRYSDALE under-18 Colts 2 season came to an end with a narrow loss against Ocean Grove 2 in their Division 4 knockout semi-final at Portarlington on 20 August.
Final scores were Ocean Grove 7.13 (55) to Drysdale 7.7 (49).
The Grubbers led at every change though the gallant Hawks challenged late only to go down by six points.
Ocean Grove held on in a tense struggle when the final siren sounded despite a Drysdale goal in the final two minutes of play.
Hawk Jake Alderding who kicked two goals, was named best afield for his side while team-mate Kyle Lattarulo also booted two majors.
The Grubbers’ one-goal win meant Ocean Grove would meet the combined Bannockburn/South Barwon team in the Division 4 Colts preliminary final.
Bannockburn/South Barwon lost to Geelong Amateur, who progressed to Division 4 Colts grand final, in the second semi-final by eight points on 20 August.
Prior to finals, Drysdale finished the 2016 season with eight wins and 10 losses.
